Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!!!

This year we went all out for Halloween. Well, Chad and the kids did.....I somehow ended up a witch in a world of superheroes!!! LOL This year was the first year Chad was off work for actual Halloween night. It was so fun!

We went to a Halloween party at my friends house, then Boo at the Zoo, then trick or treated on Halloween...seemed like our Halloween lasted 2 weeks....ha!

Here are some photos of our holiday. Chad has the most awesome Batman costume ever!!! So if you need a Batman....I got one!!! :)

Painted Cabinets

When we moved into our home about 7 years ago the first thing I noticed was the builder grade cabinets and I always said "I need to redo or replace those!" LOL Well, 7 years later I still hadn't gotten up the nerve to do either. Over time we had replaced all the appliances with Stainless Steel and changed the décor probably 10 times! LOL We painted the kitchen a really cool blue last year. Soooo, I decided last month to just do it!!!

I went to Lowes and bought Deglosser and Grey Paint. We removed the doors one at a time and I did each cabinet by itself. It took me probably 7 days from start to finish to get it all done and put back together.

I also had my husband replace all the hardware and two old broken cabinets with new ones. He also added bead board to the ends of each cabinet to give it some character. I don't have a photo but we added a tall pantry style cabinet next to the refrigerator which has added so much storage its ridiculous!!! I love it!!

So here's an older before and an after photo of my handy work!

Abingdon, VA

Every Fall my husband and I take a trip to Abingdon, VA to the Barter Theater and we stay at the Martha Washington Inn.

This year we went up on Saturday and had lunch at Pop Ellis Soda Shoppe and then spent the afternoon in antique stores and walking around town. It was a very nice afternoon. That night we went to the play Kiss Me Kate. It was good, not the best play we have seen but it was entertaining.

Sunday morning we slept in (as a mommy and daddy that is rare!!)then we went down to the hotel restaurant and had a delicious breakfast.

I cherish these short get-a-ways with my sweet husband. They are few and far between but definitely something we look forward to!!!
