Winter Wonderland

The news predicted we would get 4-7 inches of snow yesterday, well after waiting all day and all the schools closing it finally started to snow around 3pm, at 10pm we still did not have very much snow at all. When we woke up this morning we had 3 inches which for East TN that is a good amount. It was a wet messy snow, not good for playing in but I took the kids out anyway and we attempted to make a snowman, it was a pitiful little thing. Abby loves snow, she could live in it all day! Brady on the other hand hated it. He only stayed out a little while then decided it was nap time. While he napped Abby and I finished the snowman and brought our Huskey, Mishka, outside. She loves the snow and almost drug me down the street trying to run and play!! I love snow but not a fan of this wet messy stuff!! It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and now for some relaxing with some hot cocoa and a movie!

Changing Table Make-over!

Abby got this changing table when she was a baby and when we moved I stored it at my mom's house. Recently when we redid her room I got it back and refinished it with black paint and new pink glass knobs. It was originally Natural color. I'm pretty proud of it! Above is a pic of a similar one in the Natural color so you could see how light it was and the black one is the actual one I redid!

Abby's Nightstand

So I really wanted to get Abby a night stand. Her bedroom has been pieced together from an old changing table, a twin bed, a bookshelf, and a really small table. The twin bed was black and really pretty so I took her old changing table my mom had and painted it black and changed the knobs, got a black bookshelf and my husband accessorized it with some white accents, so I found a night stand at Pottery Barn Kids I really loved but didnt want to pay $200 plus shipping for it and it didnt come in black so I asked my husband to make it for me (he has recently taken up woodworking). Here are some pics. The white one is the actual one from Pottery Barn and the unpainted one is the one he built!!! I cant wait to paint it black and get it in Abby's room! Chad is doing a wonderful job, even adding an adjustable shelf! Check it out!!!

Found some great deals!!!!

I went to the mall yesterday and walked into clearance heaven at The Childrens Place. They have all their infant and toddler clearance marked down to $2.99 and big kids clearance was all $3.99! Here are some things I found!!!

New Hair Do

Well, I finally took the plunge and colored my hair dark. I really like it!! I went to the Tennessee School of Beauty and the girl who colored it did a wonderful job. I didnt get it cut, I am trying to let it grow some so when I do get it cut its not AS short as it has been!!

My Favorite Sites

I decided to add some websites to my sidebar. These are sites I visit alot, mostly where I buy WAY too much stuff!! I am really trying to focus on unique sites I find but I did add some popular ones to that I love. Let me tell you about a few of them. I added Walgreens because they have incredible deals and the Walgreens Photo is awesome. Woot is an interesting site that offers One item on sale for one day only! Sometimes they have great things, sometimes not! Threadless Kids is also a cute kids tee shirt site. I plan on updating it often and when I find a site worth putting on my blog. Needless to say I am online way too much but hey, we all need a hobby, right??? :)

Black and White Photos

I have become obsessed with black and white photos! I love the way they make the subject of the photo look. I think black and white photos capture something about the picture that color photos lack. Yesterday I went to the store and bought 4 matching picture frames and went to Walgreens and had some black and white photos developed. I made a beautiful wall cluster in my living room using black frames and black and white photos. It is so pretty! I have caught myself several times today just standing and looking at my new wall!!! Here are some of the photos I used.

Game Night

Last Saturday was our official first Friends Game Night. I have always loved board games and was so happy when it was suggested we do this as a monthly event. We decided to theme each game night and bring corresponding food for the theme. January was Mexican. We had tacos with all the trimmings, Mexican Cornbread, Tortilla Pinwheels, and a Yummy Mexican dessert with fried tortilla shells, ice cream, cinnamon sugar, choc sauce, and caramel topped off with whipped cream and cherries! We played a dice game that was really fun. Left, Right, Center is all I know to call it! LOL Then we all broke off and some played Rook, another group played Scattergories, and the last group went to the mancave and played XBOX! I was blessed to be in the Scattergories group and by far it is my favorite game of all time! Its definately going on my games to buy list. I was having such a great time I forgot to take pictures. This will not happen again. I will have my camera ready to catch all the action. Attending the party were our dear friends Jason, Cissy, and Lily Peace, Julie and Wes Payne, Kelly and Anson Norman, and Neil and Usha Patel along with their friend Hahn.

February's theme is going to be something to the feel of Valentines in Italy. Italian food and Valentines treats! Cant wait for Feb. 13th!!!! Game nights rock!

Snow Day

Last week we had some winter weather come through. Abby got out of school at 1pm on Thursday and there was no school on Friday. So we spent most of the day Friday making a Valentines sign for her bedroom door. She loves to decorate her door for each holiday or season. Mishka, our Husky loves the snow, she could run and play in it all day! It was so cold Abby and Chad went out and built snow forts but me and Brady stayed in where it was warm and drank hot chocolate! Happy Snow Day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am so glad Christmas is over now. I love Christmas but it seems our Christmas Season is so long, we literally have Christmas functions for a week! Welcome 2010! Here are some of my goals for the next year:
1. Finish the new Family/Playroom
2. Clean, paint, and organize my Laundry Room
3. Paint the Kitchen
4. Spend more time enjoying my children, they grow so fast!!
5. Go on a date with my husband at least once a month!
6. Make time for myself, I feel like I am always doing for others and never myself, we all need our own time to better ourselves no matter how busy we seem to be.
7. Make it back to North Myrtle Beach for Family Pictures!!
8. Learn how to make Glazed Pecans!!
9. Be a better friend and spend time with my friends! I love them all!
10. Keep this blog up to date!!

These are not deep philosophical goals just some minor things I think would make life a little easier and make me happier!! I hope everyone has a wonderful 2010! Please keep reading our blog, like it says, we are very random so you never know what might pop up!!!!
