DIY- Episode 1 LOL My Bathroom Remodel

I decided to take the plunge and remodel our half bathroom downstairs. It gets used ALOT by us and guests so I felt it needed a makeover in a bad way. When we moved in the walls were a brownish gold color and one wall was a flat faded maroon. It was such ugly colors and I tried to make it look nice with wall decor and accessories but 4 years later it was just plain dark and ugly so I spent the entire day Monday painting and redoing it. Here are the before and after pictures. I painted the oak wooden cabinet black and I am very happy how it turned out!!! My next project will either be my laundry room or the dining room.............to be continued!!!!

Mothers Day

Loving God,
as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children,
so you watch over your Church.
Bless these women,
that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Happy Mother's Day!

May Crowning and Family Picnic

During the Month of May -- a month both named for and dedicated to Mary -- Catholics have long honored her by placing a crown on her image. The tradition in the United States and many other countries has been for school children to have a "May Crowning" ceremony, with a procession, pretty dresses and a wreath of fresh flowers that one child gets to place on the statue. A song for these festivals, "Bring Flowers of the Fairest", with its refrain "O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May..." has been a familiar favorite for generations.

St. Mary's School always encourages each child to bring flowers to Mary and they lay them at her feet during the May Crowning Mass. Its a beautiful tradition and the celebration is followed by a family picnic on the school grounds. Here are some pictures of the picnic. Abby's friend Molly joined us for our picnic.

Abby's Garden

Garden Sanctuary
You who walk,
Maybe with troubled thoughts,
Come, enter here and rest;
And may the sweet serenity of growing things,
And the heavenly,peace
Be mirrored in they soul.
-Doxis M. Palmer

St. Mary's Science class grows some kind of flower or veggie every year and the kids get to bring it home after it has grown quite a bit. Well, Abby brought home some corn and a cucumber and we had no where to put it. So Sam's Club had these raised garden sets and we purchased one for her to start a garden in. We were pleasantly surprised at how large it actually was when we got it home. We also got her a rain barrel to help with watering! In her garden are the following:
Cucumber
Corn
Crooked Neck Squash
Straight Neck Squash
Cherry Tomatoes
Patio Tomatoes
Roma Tomatoes
Cantaloupe
Watermelon
Gerber Daisy
Green Bell Pepper
Strawberry Plant
Daisies
Cabbage
I would highly recommend to any parent out there to let your child grow a garden, it not only teaches responsibility but they learn so much about how things grow and develop.

Ice Skating

Abby was invited to a bithday party at the Icearium Ice Skating Rink this month. She was alittle nervous about going since she had never been ice skating. I told her to go give it a try and if she needed me to help her I would go get some skates (I am not a fan of ice skating at all due to a major crash I had the first and only time I have ever went skating! LOL) However, she did not need my help, she did wonderfully!! So well in fact some people were asking me how long she had been taking lessons...my response...NEVER! LOL It was an awesome time and I cant wait until we can go back again. I think we may do some summer play dates ice skating with some of her friends from school!!

ARF! A Canine Musical

Abby was in her schools Spring Musical Production of the play ARF! She had me make a t-shirt with a picture of our Siberian Husky on it! The kids had to wear dog apparel or a dog costume. We decided to do a t-shirt, dog ears, and a fuzzy tail. Then last minute we added gray socks over her shoes for paws!! They sang "What Does It Mean To Be A Dog", and "This is Our Night to Howl". It was so cute and they did such a great job. Abby loves to participate in these kinds of events!!!

Brady on Sprout!

2 weeks ago Abby made Brady a birthday card and mailed it to Sprout Channel. She worked hard and was so proud. They show the cards on the childs birthday so yesterday we recorded Sprout's Good Morning Show! Brady's name ran across the bottom of the screen and when I looked online it was the first card I saw on Birthday Page!!! Abby was so proud her card for her brother was online and his name was on TV!!!
